Obituary for Edna Earle Fisher-Grafton
Dr. Edna Earle Fisher Grafton was born May 24, 1929, in Memphis Tennessee to the late Ollie Fred Fisher and Alberta Brown Fisher. She was preceded in death by ten siblings.

Early in life, Edna accepted Christ as her personal savior at Warner Temple A.M.E Zion Church. Over the years, she was affiliated with Princeton Chapel A.M.E Zion and later joined Springdale Baptist Church under the leadership of the late W.T Grafton.

Edna was a proud graduate of Manassas High School. She received a Bachelors of Art degree from Arkansas Baptist College in Elementary Education and a MA, degree from the University of Wisconsin. She continued to further her studies at Memphis Theological Seminary and received an honorary Doctorate degree from the Tennessee School of Religion.

She later married Rev. W.T. Grafton of the Springdale Baptist church.

Edna was employed with Memphis City Schools for thirty-three years and taught at Hanley Elementary and Oakhaven Elementary until she retired.

Dr. Grafton was the supervisor and former instructor of the Leadership and Administration Division of the National Baptist Convention, State Director and Instructor of the Tennessee Baptist Missionary and Education Convention, Secretary of the Memphis District Association, Instructor of the Greater Memphis Sunday School and NBC Congress, Instructor at Tennessee School of Religion, NBC Director and choir member of Springdale Baptist Church and a member of the Ministers’ Wives association. Edna was also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

Edna was a writer of several poems “ My Walk with God”, “Black woman why are you here” and many many more.

Her earthly journey was concluded on Thursday, September 21, 2017; God gave Edna her wings and called her to a heavenly rest.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one sister in law, Laverne Fisher, she entrusted her care during her days of life to her niece, Janet Fondren Tate and many loving nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her beautiful life.
