Obituaries
Althelia Harris was born on August 4, 1957, in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, to the late Althea Cartlidge Harris and Jack Harris. She accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. Althelia attended Rolling Fork High School and grew into a woman of deep faith, unshakable strength, and unwavering love.
Her love was both unconditional and limitless. She carried a joyful spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a heart full of kindness that drew people to her. Althelia was a true embodiment of 1 Peter 4:8-9—offering hospitality, love, and grace to all. She rejoiced always in the strength of the Lord and exalted His salvation in every season of her life.
On August 12, 2025, with her affairs in order and her spirit at peace, Althelia welcomed the divine exchange of mortality for immortality. Though absent from the body, she is now present with the Lord.
Althelia leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, perseverance, and love. She is preceded in death by her parents, Althea Cartlidge Harris and Jack Harris; her brother, Charles Robinson; sister, LeMorris Mallard; and beloved son, Eric L. Harris.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Marcus Harris and Qurtez K. Harris; four sisters, Ophelia Smith and Loretta (John) Billingsley of Belzoni, MS, Albertha Harris of Augusta, GA, and Vera (Melvin) Stewart of Dallas, GA; three brothers, JoeNathan Robinson of Douglasville, GA, Eddie Harris of Belzoni, MS, and Rev. Andre (Linda) Harris of Cleveland, MS.
She also leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren Zavia Harris Jr., Zackary Harris, Zayrin Harris and Autumn Taylor, a devoted daughter-in-law, Lisa Harris, and a beloved niece, Billatoyia Smith, who loved her unconditionally. Her warmth and spirit will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
