Alvin Donell Stephens was born January 15, 1952 to Helen Cothran and Charles Irving in Blytheville, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by father Charles Ervin, mother Helen Cothran and sisters Mary Cothran
Alvin attended school in Blytheville Arkansas. He was in the band and loved playing the drums and cymbals . He graduated from Harrison High School in 1970. After high school, he joined the Navy which was during the Vietnam War. He was stationed aboard the USS Saratoga where he was an aircraft mechanic. Alvin was honorably discharged in May of 1974 in Norfolk, VA. He then, continued his schooling at Norfolk State University. In 1980 he decided that he wanted to be a truck driver. He drove trucks for over 35 years. He was an exceptional father, grandfather, friend, and a loyal Washington Redskin fan.
On Sunday, July 28, 2024 the Lord called him home. He transitioned peacefully in his sleep. He leaves behind his loving wife, Latanya Stephens, his daughter Stephanie Graham (Johnny), son Gregory DeBose (Katina), daughter TeQuila Johnson (Perry), grandsons Jaquarion Graham, Keyon Marcy, Devin DeBose, Cameron Breathett, and Caleb Johnson, granddaughters Dajhia Sangster, Leah Oliver, and Shamaya Adams, Great granddaughters Eloni Boyd and Semira Johnson, sister Sandra Cothran, and a host of nieces and nephews.
