Obituary for Amy Lillian Dancy
Mrs. Amy Lillian Dancy (Nee Parker) was born October 28, 1928 in Shuqualak, MS to the union of Alec and Senora Parker. On October 26, 1946 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Taulton Dancy, Sr. To this union six children were born, Gwendolyn, Taulton, Jr., Curtis, Cynthia, Stephen Eric and Dondi.
Lillian was an alumni of the (former) historically black Mary Holmes College and a retired food services
Manager. Her career spanned more than 40 years with various entities including The United States Department of Defense/Department of Air Force; ARAMark Services; and several Michelin-starred restaurants.
A former resident of East St. Louis, IL, Lillian was a member of Pilgrim Temple CME Church where
She taught Adult Sunday School and was an active member of the Women’s Choir, Annie Gamble Usher Board, and the Annual Palm Sunday Tea Committee. Lillian was also presiding member of the Shuqulakan Club. In 2012, Lillian relocated to Memphis, TN where she became a member of Trinity CME Church while continuing to be a great mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Madea (as she was best known) answered her call to glory on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Baptist Hospital, Collierville. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Taulton (Nuddy), Sr., her son Stephen Eric and granddaughter Courtney Elyse, siblings, Arizona, Alec, Jr., LeRoy, and Thomas.
