Annie McDonald, 67, died April 19, 2020.
Annie Virginia Yvonne Atkins Was born Friday, November 14th, 1952 in New Albany, Mississippi to Mary Elizabeth Atkins and Jesse Willie Atkins, Sr. She departed this life in the comfort of her home Sunday, April 19th, 2020.
Annie moved to Memphis in 1961 with her family. She graduated from Hamilton High School Monday, May 24th, 1971 and went on to become a wonderful wife, amazing mother and loving grandmother. She was also a devoted civil servant for the Internal Revenue Service for 38 years before she retired.
In 1985, Annie Atkins and Stanley McDonald were United in holy matrimony; they were blessed with two daughters, Falon McDonald (Simmons) and Megan McDonald.
Annie, who was lovingly called Yvonne by family and friends, enjoyed good food and music, dancing, shopping and spending time with her loved ones.Â
Annie was sweet, smart, compassionate, funny and the perfect example that great things come in small packages. Her wit and candor were unmatched so with her you’d always have to stay on your toes.Â
Annie was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Sr.; brother, Jesse Jr. and sister, Ruth. She leaves to cherish her memories and legacy of love: her mother, Elizabeth Atkins; sisters, Dorothy Hickman, Frances Hunt, Delores Atkins, Bernice Atkins; brother, Charles Atkins; daughters, Falon Simmons and Megan McDonald; grandchildren, Autumn McDonald and Jaleel Hulett and a host of nieces and nephews.Â
