Obituary for Bernice Burton Garrett
Bernice Burton Garrett, 80, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Methodist Hospice in Memphis, TN.
Mrs. Garrett was employed with Memphis City Schools and she worked as a high school English teacher at Manassas High, Northside and Melrose. She later worked as an elementary principal at Prospect, Alton and Levi School.
Mrs. Garrett leaves to cherish her memory a sister; Mary B. Coger, of Memphis, TN, a brother; Elias (Willodean) Burton, of Cedar Hill, TN, a sister-in-law; Evelyn Burton, of Atlanta GA, a brother-in-law; G.C. Sibbie, of Jackson, TN; sixteen nieces and nephews; a host of cousins and numerous friends.
Service for Mrs. Garrett are scheduled for Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Serenity Funeral Home, 1638 Sycamore View Road at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be Sunday July 24, 2016 at the St. John Primitive Baptist Church, in Dekalb, MS.
