Obituary for Bishop Freddie Lee Newson
Bishop Freddie Lee Newson, 74, died December 16, 2021.

Bishop Freddie L. Newson Sr. a native of Stanton, TN was born July 27, 1947, to the late Roosevelt and Mamie Newson. Bishop left Stanton and moved to Memphis, TN in 1965, he started work at Kimco, there he met Bernise White, they dated and were married in 1969; a union that lasted fifty-two amazing years. Bishop was destined to become a Minister, growing up he performed funeral services for family pets, farm animals and anything that died. He accepted Christ at an early age. Bishop Newson Pastored Holy Pentecostal church on Bodley St. from 1986 until 1987 and later that year he founded and Pastored Greater Faith COGIC Deliverance where he remained Pastor until the Lord called for him. Bishop Newson retired from the Defense Depot Memphis, TN. In 1997 after 25 years. For the next twelve years he worked as a bus driver for the school system until he fully retired in May of 2013. Bishop loved to sing and was a dedicated member of the Sons of Jehovah for fifty years. Singing was just one of the many things he enjoyed along with traveling and spending time with his family. Bishop Newson transitioned peacefully on December 16, 2021, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven MS.
Bishop Newson was preceded in death by his parents, Sister; Margaret Mitchell, and brothers; James Newson, and John Newson (Big John). He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Bernise Newson, two sisters; Barbara Sanders (Dual) of Memphis, TN and Jacqueline Newson of Stanton TN. Seven children; Phillip Murphy, Kedzie White (Cessily), Randy Murphy, Anthony Newson, David Murphy, Freddie L. Newson II (Danielle) and Carmen Pease (Chris). A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
