Obituary for Carolyn Vera Marshall

Carolyn Vera Marshall was born on December 27, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee to the belated Frank and Annie Roberts. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Zion Piperton and continued her faith at New Zion CME Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Sain.


Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Annie Roberts and all 12 of her siblings; Channie Bell, Bertha Jenkins, Anna Pearl Fleming, Ethel Jackson, Frank Lee Roberts (Gus), Cronnie Roberts, Helen Young, Rosie Mae Ward, Lucille Bailey (Sue), Mose Roberts (MO), William Roberts (Ball), and Jimmy Roberts. She is also preceded in death by Two grandchildren and Four great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was the pillar of her family. She always provided a safe place for her family to call home. She provided meals for everyone who was in need or who just wanted to stop by and eat. And if you knew Carolyn you knew she loved her cup of Coffee...no sugar and no cream She also loved a good conversation.


She loved her family so much, every summer she would gather all 12 of her grandchildren to enjoy the country life at her home. She continued to show that same love to all of her great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.


Carolyn was known for her home cooked meals and for the love she showed her friends, family, and neighbors. She loved to travel and if you needed a ride she was ready to go. She would often take ones in the community to their doctor's appointments, grocery shopping, or just for a ride out on the town.


Carolyn would be greatly missed by her husband Robert Marshall and by her five children; Daphne Ingram (Kelsey Ingram) of Starkville, MS; Sharon Peterson (Dyvan Peterson) of Bartlett, TN; Francis Fitzpatrick (John Fitzpatrick) of Memphis, TN; Sheila Young (belated Christopher Young) of Memphis, TN; and Jeanette Marshall of Collierville, TN.


She also leaves to cherish her memory 10 grandchildren 28 great grandchildren, 12 great- great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law Betty Robertson and Essie Street and one brother-in-law Earl Ray Marshall and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and Friends.



Carolyn Vera Marshall, age 80, died March 27, 2026.
