Obituary for Charles Conway
Charles Conway, 62, died January 12, 2016. Retired Railroad Engineer.
Charles Conway was born to the late Mary Priestley-Conway and Major Conway, Jr. on June 22, 1953 in Shelby, Mississippi.
He accepted Christ at an early age at Zion Grove Baptist Church.
He enjoyed a distinguished career first as a Conductor and then as a Train Engineer with Union Pacific Railroad until his early retirement in 2004. During his retirement he looked forward to spending countless weekends with “The Wild Bunch”.
He departed this life on January 12, 2016 at Baptist East Hospital surrounded by his devoted wife and children. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a wife of 44 years, Linda; son, Kendrick (Lakeisha) Conway; daughter, Tasha (Rashad) Muhaimin; father, Major (Judy) Conway; five grandchildren, Khalid, Kyana, Zaynah, Bilal and Kaleb, whom he loved dearly; brothers, Robert, Richard, Hercules, Ronald and Donnie; sisters, LaTorya and Fatasia, who preceded him in death; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, January 15 2016 at Serenity Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Serenity Funeral Home.
