Obituary for Danny Terrell Williams
Danny Terrell Williams was born to his loving parents on November 5, 1967 in Memphis, Tennessee, and transitioned from this life, suddenly on December 12, 2014. He attended Mitchell High School, where he was Vice President of Student Council, voted Most Versatile and a standout basketball player (jersey #32). After graduation, he attended Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, where he was an outstanding scholar with a 3.9 GPA and basketball player (jersey # 31). In 1991, Danny began a career with the United States Social Security Administration. He accepted a position in training and development in the Kansas City office where he worked for 23 years. While working full-time, he matriculated from Park University of Parkville, Missouri, where he received a Master of Public Affairs with Honors in Government – Business Relations. In June of 2014, he and his family relocated to Dallas, Texas where he accepted the position of Lead Instructor for the Dallas Regional Social Security Office.
As a gifted athlete, he served his community in Kansas City by coaching numerous basketball teams ranging from elementary, middle and high school, both Varsity and JV. One of his proudest moments as a coach was winning the State Championship title. Danny mentored many student athletes encouraging academic excellence and personal responsibility. On July 18, 1997, Danny was initiated into the Kansas City Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc., serving as the chapter’s Reporter and Editor of The Achiever newsletter. He was a committed member and participated in many community based programs, serving the less fortunate. As a proud and devoted father, he recently enrolled his daughter Ahmaree into University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on a full academic scholarship.
Danny is survived by his parents, Ms. Lillie Harmon and Mr. Casey Woods, a loving wife, Malika Williams, his daughter, Ahmaree Williams, two brothers, Reginald Williams and Keith (Tammie) Williams, and four sisters, Denise Scott, Cherrita , Stacy and Kacy Williams. Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews lovingly call him “Uncle Danny”. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on December 19th. Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20th at Temple of Deliverance COGIC, 369 E. GE Patterson Ave., Memphis, TN
