Eddie Rucker, 88, died August 21, 2022.


Eddie Rucker was born on May 2, 1934 in Holly Springs, Marshall County, Mississippi, to the late Matthew “Map” Rucker and Alena Bowen Rucker.

He transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at approximately 8:25 pm at Baptist Desoto Hospital, Southaven, Mississippi.

Eddie professed a hope in Christ at an early age and became a member of Hopewell #1 M.B. Church in Holly Springs, Mississippi until he moved away to Memphis, Tennessee.

He attended school at Rosenwald School in Holly Springs, Mississippi.

Eddie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Elizabeth “Tilda” Aldridge Rucker who preceded him in death and to this union, eight children were born, and he received three bonus children of whom he loved and took care of as his own.

He later married Alma Pendleton Rucker and spent many years with her until his transition.

Eddie was a hardworking man and he worked at Pepsi Cola in Memphis, TN for many years as well as at Harding Academy, Tennessee Health Department, Bruce, Christian Brothers High School and Fed Ex.

He had a love for greyhound racing and would often slip away to himself to West Memphis, AR to enjoy them.

Eddie’s memories will forever live on in the hearts of his wife, Alma Pendleton Rucker, nine daughters: Cathleen Wells, Renee Jones, both of Omaha, NE, Patricia Rucker, Karen Rucker, Diane Rucker Hardaway (Darryl), Catherine Rucker, Paige Rucker, all of Memphis, TN, Rosie Aldridge Nolen (John) of Louisiana and Loretta Aldridge Hines of Red Banks, MS; two sons: Anthony Rucker (Rosie) of Little Rock AR and Carl Aldridge (Gloria) of Memphis, TN; thirty-three grandchildren, sixty-two great-grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins & friends.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Joanne Rucker, Aleaner Rucker Stepter; one son-in-law, Timothy Hines, Sr.; four brothers, Fred Rucker, Herman Rucker, Carl Rucker & James Rucker; seven sisters, Mildred Rucker McDonald, Jessie Rucker Talley Draper, Jeanie Rucker Greer, Louise Rucker Mallory, Clara Rucker Waller, Effie Rucker Boga & Delma Rucker Milan.
