Obituaries
Eddie Lewis Veazey was a remarkable man who lived a remarkable life. He began his journey on September 9, 1954 in Hernando, Mississippi as the son of the late Archie and Remell Veasey. He was one of nine children, two brothers, Melvin and Larry, preceded him in death. He was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Eddie departed this life on Thursday, September 19, 2019.
Eddie married the love of his life, Cathelean Futrell. His loving dedication to his wife, fondly known as “Cat” was beyond compare. They were married for over 38 years. They were inseparable and exemplified the true epitome of soul mates. Eddie drove for various trucking companies throughout his career. He was a dedicated employee and found immense joy in his occupation. During the last ten years of his career, his entrepreneurial spirit became paramount and he worked as an owner/operator until his health began to fail and he entered retirement. He had a robust love of the open road. Along with his wife, Eddie traveled looking for adventure and seeing the beauty throughout the United States. As an avid dog lover, he treasured his pups. Eddie will be remembered as a loving husband who deeply cherished “family.” He always had a strong desire to lend a helping hand or cook a great meal for family gatherings. His warm smile, great sense of humor and affectionate teasing will be sorely missed by his loved ones and friends.
Leaving to celebrate and cherish his life is his wife, Cathelean; four sisters, Alberta Bryant, Erma Foster, Bettye Briggs (Henry), and Linda Veasey; two brothers, Archie Veasey, Jr. (Shirley), and Ulice Veasey (Maxine); his aunt, Callie Terrell; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
