Edgar Morris Jr. was born March 29, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee, son of the late Edgar Morris Senior and Frezia Mae Sellers Morris. He was a loving and compassionate husband, devoted father, grandfather, stepfather and trustworthy friend. He graduated from the Brooker T. Washington High in 1970 and attended Shelby State Community College (Southwest Community College). Edgar was proud to tell people about his longevity of more than 40 years and accomplishments as an employee at Frisco Railroad which later transitioned to Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He also served 4 years in the healthcare industry as a valued employee for the Veteran Administration Medical Center, in Memphis Tennessee.
Edgar was our sports expert. He had a passion for all sports, especially football. He had a set routine in which he mastered the ability to simultaneously watch two football games, listen to basketball game and follow the local new forecast all while he also flip channels and watched his great niece’s volleyball games. He was a wonderful role model and often provided many of his friends and family great advise during his sports games. He sometimes had on his stern look but everyone who knew him was aware of his wonderful spirit and generous nature. He was a person know to help others.
He leaves behind to celebrate and shared his wisdom his teenage friend and soulmate Reva Merriweather-Callender whom he married on October 4, 1988. From that union, he was a welcomed and awesome link that connected a very large, diverse and blended family. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Sadly, he leaves to cherish his memories and words of wisdom: Wife, Reva Callendar-Morris; three children Izaac Merriweather Jr (Bethelhem), Deddrick Morris (Tamisha), and Lajuana Morris (Curtis); brother, Roy E. Morris, and many other family members to include Aunt Zula Wortham, Uncle Timothy Sellers, and his grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister in laws, brother in laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind many loving friends.
