Edward Earl Smith affectionately known as "MAC ED" was born March 8, 1956 in Memphis Tennessee to the late Russell and Laura Mae Smith. He was the fourth of eight children. Also preceding him in death was his loving grandmother Annie Mae Kelley, and three siblings Russell Smith Jr., Dorothy Mae Golden, David Lynn Smith.
He accepted Christ at an early age and grew up in Shady Grove Baptist Church 1821 Kansas St., Memphis, TN 38109.
He attended Florida Elementary School, Carver High School and Westwood High School. Edward moved to Chicago in 1980, where he worked for Drapery Company, for many years, until he moved back to Memphis. He was a master of sketching and everyone who knew him would ask him to draw for them at a very young age. His artistic skills won him an award that acknowledges him in the commercial Appeal.
Edward was a free spirited person who loved to be generous within helping, giving and servicing to others. He kept it real in his verbal communication about himself and others.
He was the brother and uncle who always kept everyone laughing.
His spirit of love still abides in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him. His legacy lives on through his brother, sisters, nieces and nephews.
He leaves to cherish, his memories: One Brother Dennis Smith, three sisters, Mary Smith, Sandra Smith-Royster and Belinda Vinson, eight Nephews: David Smith Jr., Cecil Short, Mario Smith, Arsenio Smith, Joshua Smith, Justin Smith De'Angelo Smith and Enrique Royster; Seven Nieces: Tenaka Smith (Rodney) Trina Golden, Toni Golden (Ben) Demitra, Tiara Bobo (Winston) Brittiney Jackson (Sean) Tiela Williams(Quinton) Taylor Vinson and Deasia Smith
and 18 grand nieces and nephews, One God-sister Pleshetta Hunt and three Special Cousin Jimmy and Loretta Harris, Sheila Harris and a host of cousins and friends.
