Obituary for Erica L. Brooks
Erica Latrice Brooks, daughter of Sylvester Brooks and Bonnie Burress, was born June 19, 1976 in Memphis Tennessee. A graduate of Wooddale Sr. High School and Christian Brothers University, Erica received her Baccalaureate degree in Business Finance in August of the year 2000. Erica dedicated many years of her life as an Early Childhood Educator, as both a business owner and dedicated employee of Knight Arnold Preschool. Her love for family and children was ever-present as she held an active role in shepherding the lives of those near and dear to her.
Erica accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and His light shined through as everyone attested to her angelic and beautiful spirit. Erica followed under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Davis of Greater Victory Temple C.O.G.I.C, where she served as a dedicated member and usher for many years. Her strong conviction in God and immeasurable faith directed her life and her unwavering Christian spirit touched the hearts and lives of everyone who knew her.
Erica lived a joyous and glorious life. Despite many obstacles, she always remained humble and thankful for each day that she was given. Her captivating smiles and tranquil spirit will forever be cherished.
Erica was called upon by the Lord to live eternally in His presence on Saturday July 30, 2016 at 7:35 a.m. We will celebrate her home going and live her motto, “God First, Then Family… All else is optional,” as we know she is now present with the Lord.
Lovesome memories of Erica will be forever cherished by: Mother, Bonnie Burress and Father, Sylvester Brooks, Siblings: Bridget Lynch, Felicia Layeni (Femi), Martin Burress (Tina), Monica Burress, Kimberly Burress (Julius) Brandon Brooks, Sylvester Brooks Jr., Barry Brooks, Krystal Brooks, and Orlando Brooks. Preceding her in death: brother Terry Brooks. Adoring thoughts and infinite wisdom will forever be embraced by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and caring friends.
