Obituary for Ermida Aranda
Ermida Aranda, age 54 of Memphis, Tennessee was called home on Saturday, January 4, 2014. Ermida was born on June 14, 1959 in Manila, Philippines to Ernesto Aranda and Virginia DeJose. Ermida left home and moved to the United States in 1979. She remained in Memphis for the remainder of her life but loved traveling and in 2011 was able to visit her home in Manila for the first time since leaving in 1979. During her visit to Manila, she was able to reconnect with her mother and other family members after over a thirty year absence. Ermida dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. During the years she was employed she worked hard to take care of her family, many times working multiple jobs. She enjoyed going to the movies, going out to eat, and most of all spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ishmael and Marliatou Mohammad; daughter, Yasmin Mohammad; daughter and son-in-law, Samerah Mohammad and Marshall (Rick) Johns, III; daughter and son-in-law, Faridah and Lester Bashawn Thomas; granddaughter, Mariah Aranda Jayde Gray; granddaughter, Iyana Irie Liggins; grandson, Naseer Ammar Mohammad; granddaughter, Khadija Imani Mohammad; and grandson, Landon Raphael Saint Johns. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Harold Ford Funeral Chapel, 1638 Sycamore View Rd., Memphis, TN 38134, (901) 379-0861.
