Obituaries
Missionary Fannie Louise Johnson was born October 15, 1946, to the union of Mr. Sammie L. Johnson, Sr. and Maggie L. Johnson Pruitt, who preceded her in death. Missionary Johnson made her transition July 1st, 2019, at 72 years of age.
She was educated in the Memphis City School System and began her employment with the now Regional One Medical Center, (The Med, John Gaston/Gaylord Clinic). She worked tireless hours in various departments throughout her employment at this medical facility and built lifelong friendships ultimately retired from the Purchasing Department after more than 40 years of service.
Missionary Johnson accepted Jesus Christ as the Saviour of her life in 1974 at Gilmer Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Clavon Gilmer. She served as a choir member. She was then later licensed as an Evangelist Missionary at Gilmer Temple Church of God in Christ. She also served in the Sunday School department as Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent as well as adult class teacher. Missionary Johnson was one that was truly not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She witnessed to and prayed for countless individuals, speaking her testimony of knowing Jesus saves, he’s a habit breaker and he’s a healer, to everyone that would listen.
Missionary Johnson believed that there is always an opportunity to present and tell somebody about Jesus. This is how she lived her life. She never married nor birthed children but this never impeded her love for the family foundation. She encouraged many married couples with the word of God and stood in the gap for numerous parents giving guidance, encouragement and support for many children, youth and young adults throughout her lifetime.
Missionary Johnson was preceded in death by her sister Mary Willis, her brothers Sammie L. Johnson, Jr., Edward Johnson, Sr., and Maurice Johnson. She leaves to celebrate her legacy her brothers Robert Johnson, and Curtis McMillan, brother-in-law Charles Willis, her sisters Georgia Grandberry, Susizett (Leedale) Colbert, and Catherine Pruitt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
