Francene Coleman McHarty, 63, died October 4, 2016.
Francene Coleman McHarty, a woman of Faith, Service, Sacrifice and Sincerity, was born on April 27,1953, in Memphis, Tennessee , as the eldest daughter to parents, the late Leepolin Coleman and Frances Johnetta Carter. She was a PROUD graduate and alumni of Carver High School class of 1971. She served diligently and faithfully as the Chairperson of the R.B. Thompson Memorial Scholarship Committee for 26 years. After graduating from high school, she attended LeMoyne-Owen College receiving a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Finance.
Francene accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age under the leadership of Rev. B.J. Wilson. Francene was a lifetime member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on various committees.
She was a Silver Star fourty-three year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, initiated into the Beta Tau undergraduate chapter, LeMoyne-Owen College in the Spring of 1973. She served faithful and relentless with the Beta Epsilon Omega Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. during and until her illness would not allow.
She was a retired Business Office Manager with Power Center Academy Charter School.
Francene was joined in holy matrimony to Anthony McHarty on February 21, 1980, who proceeded her in death.
Francene was preceded in death by her father, Leepolin Coleman and step-mother, Rosie Coleman; step-son, Anthony Vincent McHarty.
Francene is survived by her dedicated and loving children, Darian L. Coleman (Tonya) and Stephanie M. Myers( Eugene, II) of Memphis, TN; a step-daughter Eleanor McHarty-Thomas (Barry) of Memphis, TN. Her sisters, Velvet C. Bass (Everett) of Memphis, TN, Karen C. Fairclough (Stephen) of North Ogden, UT, and Shawn C. Scruggs (Berry) of Lavergne, TN. Her brothers, Clarence R. Coleman (Wilada) of Louisville, KY and Ellery D. Carter of Memphis, TN. She also leaves behind her beloved grandsons and granddaughters, Ayonna Glasper, LaDarius Coleman, Destiny Coleman, Dorian Coleman, Dionte Coleman and Brayden Myers; and one great-granddaughter, Adilynn Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, God-children, sorority sisters and friends who loved her dearly.
