Obituaries

Gerald Robert "Robbie" McNamara was born on September 15, 1943, to Dorothy Marie and Gerald Patrick McNamara in Chicago, IL. Robbie made a profession of faith after returning from proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Oakland First Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee, member of the House and Grounds Committee, church welcoming committee, and Kitchen Ministry. He usually was the first one there to open the doors, make coffee and welcome members as they arrived.
True to his profession of faith, Robbie devoted himself to serving the Lord. He loved his church, family, and friends with all his heart. He always had a smile and warm spirit to those around him. He loved antique cars and vacationing in the Smoky Mountains with family and making sure the boys beat the girls in raising money for VBS. Robbie and his wife, Linda moved to Little Elm, Texas in 2001 but moved to Oakland, NT in 2011 when he retired from Auto Zone. Robbie went home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2024, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by those who love him. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda, and his mother and father. Surviving family are his son, Gerald R. McNamara, Jr. and wife Brandy, siblings, Patricia McNamara and Edward Michael McNamara, Brother and Sister in-laws Leon and wife Brenda Cook, Sonny and wife Mary Baker, Donna Botello, Life-long friends Mike and wife Sharon Elis, along with several nephews and nieces who loved it when he got in the floor to play with them.
