Gerceta H. Smith, 70, died April 14, 2020.
Gerceta Hayes Smith, the oldest daughter to the late Luther Williams and the late Dorothy (Hayes) Ivory, was born November 5, 1949, in Memphis, TN. She is the sister of Brenda Pendelton (Alonzo), Luther Ivory( Carole), Nita Ivory, Karen Ivory, Roberta Ivory, Doris Jones (Donnie), Curtis Ivory, Fredrick Ivory, Harold Ivory, William Ivory (deceased). God called Gerceta to rest in his heavenly home on April 14, 2020.
Greceta grew up in Memphis, TN. She was raised by her mother and stepfather William (Bill) Ivory. She was a tomboy and a free spirit. She spent most of her childhood with her late grandmother Flora (Flo Mama) Wadale, who was extremely influential in her life. Gerceta Smith accepted Christ and was baptized at a very early age.
Gerceta spent many years at the Board of Education, where she met and loved many people. She loved and was a faithful fan of the New England Patriots, and the San Francisco 49ers. She enjoyed singing and directing in the church choir, and she loved her gospel music.
Gerceta met the love of her life, Sanders Earl Smith and they married August 23, 1968. Gerceta and Sanders had 2 daughters and 1 son. Stephanie Maclin (Londale) deceased, Vikki Smith Jones (Tamaron) and Sander Earl Smith 3rd. Gerceta had 16 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren whom she loved and adored, there was nothing you can say about her love for her family, she was very proud.
Gerceta is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends who loved her dearly, she touched many hearts through her journey of life and will be deeply missed.
