Obituary for Gladys Marie Laws

Gladys Marie Laws, 69, died November 24, 2019.

Gladys Marie Roberson Laws was born July 22, 1950 in Memphis, TN to the late Eddie Lee Roberson and Gladys McDaniel. On November 24, 2019, God called her home to eternal peace.

Gladys confessed her faith in Christ at an early age at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W.A. Sesley. She later became a member of Brown Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Bartholomew Orr. Gladys loved the Lord, her family, her pastor and her church with all her heart.

Gladys, known by many as "Tiny Baby", married her best friend, Jimmie Laws Jr. 44 years ago on August 13, 1974. Gladys and Jimmie raised 3 sons, Bryan of Memphis, TN, Rodney of Jacksonville, FL, and Kolumn of Olive Branch, MS.

Gladys graduated from Melrose High School in Orange Mound, TN in 1968. She began working at Kimberly-Clark in 1969 where she worked for 23 years. After retiring from Kimberly-Clark, she became a part of the Nike workforce where she worked until she retired again in September, 2018. Gladys was well known for being a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. She loved to travel, attend games and spend time with family and friends but her favorite past time was spoiling her grandbabies and great-grandbabies.

Gladys leaves to cherish her memories; husband, Jimmie Laws Jr; her 3 sons; her sister, Deloris Washington; and sisters, Carolyn Visor, Irma Jones and Annie Bullard- Nelson. She also leaves Sisters-in-law; Dorothy Barnes and Irene Turner both of Memphis and Shirley McNeal of California. She had 3 granddaughters; Karliscia, Jada, and Kyndal; 3 grandsons; Jaylen, Justice and Kaeden; 2 great grandsons, Carter and Montario (MJ) and a great granddaughter, little Emma, on the way. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends, church family, and her Kimberly-Clark and Nike families.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Frank and Waddell; 2 sisters, Dora and Marjorie (Bill) as well as her sister, Rosetta Owens.

Gladys will be truly missed by all and her sweet memories will be with us forever.
