Obituary for Glenn Huggins

Glenn Huggins, 64, November 24, 2022.

Loving father, Glenn Huggins, entered unexpectedly into the Kingdom of God on November 24, 2022.

Glenn was born to Thomas and Joann Huggins on May 30, 1958 in Memphis, TN. As a child and adolescent, Glenn enjoyed several sports, but his heart was in baseball. As any Memphian of his age, he was an avid Cardinals fan, often citing Bob Gibson as one of the greatest to grace the mound. He sought his own greatness in baseball when he played at the collegiate level for Dyersburg State, but his career was cut short due to an injury sustained in practice.

Glenn was exceedingly proud of his children, Brian and Christina, whom he shared with former spouse, Carol List, as well as his new grandson, Finnan. He shared his love of sports with his children, instructing them and coaching teams when he was able, as he no doubt would have done with his grandson. Anyone who knew Glenn, knew how much he loved his children. He took pride in the new career of pharmacy that Brian has chosen, and he encouraged Christina to follow her passion in working with animals – a value he shared, as evidenced by his love for Luna, an adorable 7 lb. Pomeranian.

Glenn was a devout Catholic, placing his faith and love of God above all else. He held an unwavering faith in God, and he shared that faith with any who would hear. He sought to practice his faith in all matters and to live as an example of that faith to the best of his ability.

He enjoyed writing in prose to a degree, but his passion lay in poetry. He wrote on whatever was accessible when an idea struck – scratch paper, post-it notes, envelopes, or paper plates. He filled numerous composition books that he hoped to one day publish, and littered his house with paper scraps filled with scrawling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Joann, by his brother, Dede, and by his nephew, Heith. He is survived by his children, Brian and Christina, by his grandson, Finnan, by his siblings, Tom, Denise, Eddie, and Frank, and by a plethora of nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very dearly.
