Obituaries
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member at First Baptist Broad. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nellie Sherman, who preceded him in death. During his lifetime he owned his own dump trucks and drove for Ron Terry Construction Company. He also had a passion for lawn care.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, three daughters: Brenda Buggs, Aggie Dowdy (Matt) and Emerie Jenkins (Curtis) all of Memphis; four sons: Harvey G. Sherman, Jr., John Stephens (Mae) both of Memphis, Richard Stephens (Janice) of Ada, OK and James Sherman of Detroit, MI; four sisters: Ozzie Sherman of Memphis, Rosie Lampkin of Ackerman, MS, Jean Hannah and Willie B. Wright both of Sturgis, MS; two brothers; Wayne Sherman (Annie) and Horace Sherman (Annie Pearl) both of Starkville, MS; one sister-in-law, Lizzie Show of Lamar, MS; a special cousin: Rufus Johnson, Jr.; twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 4-6 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1638 Sycamore View Rd., Memphis, TN 38134 and on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 9-11 a.m. with services immediately following at First Baptist Church Broad, 2835 Broad Ave., Memphis, TN 38112.
