Imogene Canady, born November 3, 1962, in Memphis, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025. She was a beloved daughter, sister, educator, and friend whose life touched countless others.
Imogene was the cherished daughter of Shirley Canady and the late Leroy G. Canady Sr. She is survived by her loving mother and her two devoted brothers, Alfonso Canady and Leroy G. Canady Jr.
A proud Memphian, Imogene graduated from Hamilton High School before continuing her education at Christian Brothers University. She later earned her master’s degree from the University of Memphis and further enriched her expertise with extensive educational training in Russia. Her passion for learning and dedication to professional growth were hallmarks of her life.
Imogene devoted her career to shaping young minds as a dedicated educator. She began her teaching journey at Bolton High School, later served at Collierville High School, and ultimately retired from Houston High School. Her commitment to her students, her colleagues, and the field of education left an enduring impact that will be remembered for generations.
She was baptized in the late 1970s, and her faith remained a quiet but steady source of strength throughout her life.
Imogene will be remembered for her warmth, her determination, her wisdom, and the deep love she held for her family and community. Her legacy continues in the countless lives she influenced—with compassion, dedication, and grace.
