Obituary for Imogene T. Young
Imogene Thomas Young passed away on January 26, 2021.

Born May 30, 1932 in Hughes, AR, the second child of Ira and Toradee Thomas. Her older brother, Walter W. Thomas, was born in 1931. The family moved to Memphis around 1942, and united with the congregation of the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church. She remained a member until the time of her Homegoing. Imogene served Mount Zion faithfully and enthusiastically in many capacities: choir member, usher board, stewardess board. Imogene graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1950, and was very active member of the alumni association. Imogene was employed for over 28 years with the Tennessee Department of Human Services, until her retirement. She was a very effective advocate with the Tennessee State Employees Association for many years.
