Obituaries
She received her education from South Side High School in 1973. Following her graduation she attended Shelby State Community College where she studied Accounting. ‘Cookie’ was employed with the City of Hazelwood in St. Louis, MO. as a City Secretary. Upon returning to Memphis, she began working for Golden Security, an affiliate of Blue Cross Blue Shield of TN, as an Accounting Clerk.
In 1975, she married Joseph Williams Sr. and from that union was born Joseph Williams, Jr. and Jermaine Vincent Williams. Later in life, she reunited with her high school sweetheart Charles Lloyd Amos and they married on her birthday, October 08, 2012.
‘Cookie’ accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Salem Baptist Church. Later, she joined World Overcomers Outreach Ministries Church under the leadership of Apostle Alton R. Williams, Senior Pastor in Memphis, Tennessee.
She departed this life on Wednesday February 21, 2018.
‘Cookie’ leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Charles L. Amos. Her two devoted sons, Joseph Williams, Jr. (Candace) and Jermaine V. Williams; two grandsons, Javier D. Williams and Joseph-Landon Williams; mother, Mary R. Reed (Alfred); four sisters, Joycelyn Williams, Patricia Ann Wiley, Regina Verner and Ira Darlinia Baker; her brother Michael Reed preceded her in death. She also leaves her mother-in-law, Earlene Amos; one step daughter; four sisters in-law; three brothers in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
Visitation Friday, March 2, 2018 from 9 a.m., until service time at 11:00 a.m. at World Overcomers Church, 6655 Winchester Road. Burial at Pleasant Rest Memorial Gardens, Millington. Serenity Funeral Home, (901)379-0861.
