James Earl Robinson, Jr. (JJ) was born in Memphis, TN on December 25, 1979 to Dr. James Earl Robinson (who preceded him in death in 1991) and Maxine Robinson.
JJ was baptized at an early age. He was a member of the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church on Pillow Street. He worshiped and served under the leadership of Rev. J.K. Pickens and Rev. W.C. Swift.
He attended Orleans and Whitney Elementary Schools. He was voted Outstanding Student of the Year in 1992. He then attended Frayser High School and graduated Valedictorian in 1998. He was a member of the band, was on the cross-country team, played both baseball and basketball, and was in the National Honor Society. During his senior year he was captain of the Knowledge Bowl Team and was member of the homecoming basketball court. He was voted most Academically Inclined.
He attended University of Tennessee in Chattanooga where he majored in Political Science and graduated in 2002. Thereafter, he attended University of Tennessee Knoxville College of Law. He earned the degree Doctor of Jurisprudence with a concentration in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution in 2005.
He started practicing law in 2005. That same year he joined the staff at The Metropolitan Department of Law in Nashville. He was a dedicated employee there until his earthly transition.
JJ leaves to cherish precious memories: his mother, Maxine Robinson; a sister, Tracee (Rodrick) Coleman; one brother, Kevin (Kimberly) Brown; two nephews, Christopher Coleman and Calvin Coleman; one niece, Kandace Brown; a paternal Uncle and Aunt, Ellis and Barbara Robinson; two maternal aunts, Laurell Isom and Marie Harris; and a host of relatives, friends, and co-workers.
