Obituary for Karen Lewis
Karen Lewis, 71, died June 1, 2019.

Karen Sue Gossett-Lewis was born on March 14, 1948 in Springfield, Ohio. She was the youngest loving daughter to Glenn L. Gossett and Georgianna G. Hughes. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stepmother Mary E. Gossett, Stepfather James P. Hughes, Sister Saundra L. Jackson, and Brother James P. Hughes, Jr.

Karen unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2019. Heaven gained an angel as her work here on earth was completed. She grew up in the Mechanicsburg, Urbana and Springfield, Ohio area. Karen graduated from Springfield South High School in 1966. Soon after, she began working in the banking industry for about 27 years serving the community until she retired from National City Bank in February 1998.

On June 28, 1969, Karen married her everything and life partner of 50 years, Sherman E. Lewis. From this union she has a loving son Bryan, who she cheered and gave her all in support of his endeavors. Bryan is married to Endia V. Lewis and they gave her two of the most greatest gifts and loves of her life; grandsons James E. Lewis and Bryan C. Lewis II. Karen got a joy out of watching them grow into responsible loving young men. Most importantly she had the opportunity to see them graduate and compete in High School/ College athletics; which she truly enjoyed.

Karen leaves to cherish her memory; Her husband of 50 years Sherman, son Bryan (Endia), two grandsons James (fiancé Danielle) and Bryan II, brother Darren (Felicia) Hughes Las Vegas, NV, brother-in-law Ronald (Helen) Lewis Dayton, OH, uncle Kenneth Gossett, Springfield, OH, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Karen has been blessed with very special friends- Joyce Robinson, Columbus, OH, Roger & Francine Gayles, Chicago, IL, Ronnie & Sharron Lewis, Columbus, OH, her faithful hairstylist Nancy White, and her amazing caregiver April Mason.

In Karen’s gentle and quiet way she was the caregiver, confidant, teacher, adviser, director and friend to us all. During her employment she was a personal banker to many. Karen was a member of Trinity AME Church, Springfield, Ohio for many years. Last but not least she loved her Cleveland Browns!!!
