Obituaries
Kimberly “Kimba” Wood was born December 1, 1959 in Jackson, TN to Robert Wood and Daisy Hendrix, who both preceded her in death.
Kim graduated from Jackson Central Merry High School and went on to attend West Tennessee Business College. For nearly ten years she was employed as a very successful restaurant manager at The University of Memphis, until she became physically unable to do so.
Kim moved to Memphis in 2006, where she proclaimed her rebirth. Soon after arriving in Memphis, she began volunteering in any and every way she could at Grace House and Memphis Recovery Center, helping others recovering from addiction.
Kim was a fashionista to the highest power. She was always dressed to the 9’s, coordinated from head to toe.
Her passion for people could not be contained, as she made everyone that was in her presence feel genuinely loved and never met a stranger. You could always depend on her for sound, real-life, hard knocked advice, no matter the situation. Her quick wit and tell it like it is with a smile personality will truly be missed!
Kim is survived by one daughter, Erika King; two sisters, Joyce Curry and Sandra Williams (Howard); four brothers, Larry Hendrix, Mark Wood (Pam), Franklin Wood and James Wood, all of Jackson, TN. Kim was the proud grandmother to Elijah Wood and Sheridan King. She leaves two very special women in her life that will forever cherish her memory, Teresa Neely and Deidrea Houston, in addition to a countless number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who will always love her.
