Lavell Garrett was born May 20, 1944 in Memphis, TN. He died at home at the age of 76 on June 19, 2020.

He was preceded in death by father, John Garrett Sr.; mother, Venezuela Garrett; daughter, Ramell Garrett; sister, Mattie Owens; brother, Benjamine Garrett; and brother, John Jr. Garrett (Vivian).
Lavell is survived by two daughters, Latoya Stubbs (Winston) of Memphis, TN and Kynvell Garrett of Memphis, TN; two sons, Lavell Garrett Jr. (Ruthie) of Memphis, TN and Lavell Garett of Kansas, MO; and two siblings, Mary Buckner of Clarksville, TN and Finnus Garrett (Toni) of Washington D.C. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and a host of nephews & nieces.
