Obituaries
Growing up as an only child, LaVone became a very hard working, independent woman. As a single mother, LaVone worked as a Mechanist in Ohio. She then moved south to Itta Bena, Mississippi, where she began working as a professional truck driver. LaVone later relocated to Memphis, TN and resumed work as a Mechanist for Cargill. She also had an entrepreneurial spirit that served her well after retiring.
LaVone was preceded in death by both her parents and her beloved granddaughter, LaBorah T. King. Her memory will forever be cherished by her dear friend, Martha Hill; daughter Diane T. King; grandson Gerald Jeffreys Jr.; son-in-law Donald Lemons; aunt Annette Carter; her loving companion and best friend, her beloved German Shepherd “Queenie” and a host of family and friends. Her wisdom and laughter will always live in our hearts.
