Obituaries
LLawrence B. Seay Sr. was born May 4, 1954 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Johnnie Lee Sea and Doshie Mae (Bell) Sea, both of whom preceded him in death. On Tuesday, October 23, 2018 Lawrence was taken by God into eternal peace.
Lawrence was joined in Holy matrimony to Charletta Marie Coleman on February 15, 1984. To this union three children were born.
Lawrence was a graduate of Sheffield High School where he was a star football player. Upon graduation he received a four-year athletic scholarship, but he decided to serve his country and he enlisted into the United States Army. Lawrence worked at Cleo Wrap Distribution Center for many years.
Lawrence was a faithful and active communicant of St. John Catholic Church. He served as the Sacristan every Sunday. He also served as a member of the Parish Counsel Committee. Lawrence was a devout Catholic who served his church, family, and community with his whole heart.
Lawrence was a hard-working family man. He showed great love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and entire family. He was a self-made businessman, as he established a family business, as he named it, “Seay and Son’s Home Improvement.” For him this was a legacy and lesson in entrepreneurship for his sons. Lawrence never waivered as a husband or provider for his family. He was the head of his family and not the tail. Lawrence exhibited humility, courage, love, resilience, and authenticity. He not only talked the talk, he also walked the walk.
Lawrence was an A & D Recovery Program mentor, where he encouraged and enriched the lives of many young men and women. Lawrence will forever live in the hearts of all who were near and dear to him and we all are truly blessed and grateful to God for having Lawrence Bernard Seay Sr. in our lives.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Peggy J. Phillips, Johnnie L. Horton and Barbara Warr. To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his devoted wife of 34 years, Charletta Seay; four sons, Tony D. Seay, David D. Seay, Cortney L. Seay (Columbia, TN), Lawrence B. Seay Jr. (Tiffanie); one daughter, Krystal M. Seay; three sisters, Clarrether Bowser, Emma Evans (Reed), and Cheryl Rushing; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; his nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
