He joined the Smother's Chapel CME church at an early age.
Lennon attended Klondike elementary school and Manansas High School. He graduated in 1964.
After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served from 1964- 1967.
After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army he was hired by Sears. He worked there for 19 years as an order picker and then a forklift operator.
Lennon then went to work for the Defense Depot as a forklift operator. After the Depot closed he worked for Roadway as a loader. Then for Target as a forklift operator.
In 1973, He married Doris Ann Neal and to this union one child, Lennon Edward Theus, Jr. was born.
Lennon, Sr. was the oldest of four sons born to the late Vernon and Willie Mae Theus. Vernon Wayne Theus, Fred Calvin Theus, and Keith Hillary Theus preceded Lennon's death.
Lennon leaves to cherish his precious memory a son, Lennon Theus, Jr, a granddaughter Malia Ann Theus, Two nieces, Wanda Theus and Rhonda Martin, a devoted aunt, Beulah Theus, a devoted neighbor Alonzo Wright, a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
Mr. Theus will lie in state, Thursday, May 12, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 12 Noon, all at Serenity Funeral Home, 1638 Sycamore View Road, Memphis, TN 38134.
Interment at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road.
