On Monday, June 21, 2021, God looked down and claimed one of his own – a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Mr. Leon “Deacon Jones” Hardeman.
Leon was born August 24,1950 in Rossville, Tennessee to the late George and Ada Mae Hardeman.
Leon was a graduate of Lester High School class of 1968. He enlisted in the Navy January 2, 1969 and completed his tour of duty. Leon returned home to the city of Memphis, where he worked for the City of Memphis Public Works Department for 47 years until he was forced to retire due to health issues.
Leon joined Stinson C.M.E. Church at an early age and moved on to be a member of New Stinson Community Church where he was a faithful member, deacon, and sang in the male chorus.
Leon made his transitioned to be with God on Monday, June 21, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Ada Mae Hardeman, and 3 siblings: George Hardeman Jr., Nathaniel Hardeman, and Lena Hardeman.
Leon leaves to cherish his memory three daughters: LeCharle (John) Harris, LeBridget (Marc) Haley, and Shastie Hardeman all of Memphis, one son Marcus Hardeman of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters Annie Smith, LaVickie (Dwayne) Clark, and LaQuita Hardeman, one brother Thomas Earl Hardeman and two sisters-in-law, Lula Bell Hardeman and Rosie Hardeman; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends. Leon also leaves Bertha M. Ousley, the mother of his children who cared for him in his time of need, and a special friend Ms. Patrice Terrell.
