Thúy Hằng Ngọc Trương, also known as Lisa Truong, was born December 25, 1975 in Đà Lạt, Vietnam to parents Nguyễn Thúy Hoa and Trương Thành Hiệp. On November 12, 1991, she immigrated to the United States seeking a better life and more opportunities for her family. She worked hard to make ends meet and educate herself about the American way of life, eventually becoming a naturalized citizen on June 15, 2000. She gave birth to her only child, Leighann Truong, on August 3, 1993. She left this world suddenly on August 18, 2024 at age 48 after a long and tough battle with cancer.
Prior to her diagnosis, she was a diligent worker and made a living as a manicurist of various nail salons across Memphis, TN, becoming adored and appreciated by customers and coworkers alike. She was an incredible and beautiful soul. She gave herself completely and worked hard for her family and friends. She was a master of social connections. Anywhere she went, people gravitated. She loved spending time with friends, going over to their houses, bringing people persimmons from her tree, constantly talking on the phone, and listening to music. She was greatly cherished by the communities she touched. She was a warrior like no one else, despite all of her hardships. She was the toughest and sweetest woman anyone could ever meet. She was an amazing mother, aunt, sister, and friend to all. Her generosity is incomparable and love abundant. She will be greatly missed, but her memory and impact will carry on forever.
