Lois J. Bruce, 68, died April 3, 2018.
Lois Jean Hill-Bruce “ Grandma Honey”, was born February 19, 1950 to Earl Roy Hill, Sr. and Cornelia Conely –Hill in Memphis, TN. Lois Jean was called to rest on April 3, 2018 in the peace of her daughter’s home.
Lois Jean accepted Jesus Christ at Shady Grove Baptist Church. While proceeding through life, Lois Jean attended Shelby State Community College and Memphis State University where she received her Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Although Lois Jean worked for several employers, her work history ended at FedEx in the International Department.
While residing on Carpenter Street, Ms. Lois and her neighbor LaTonya Hunt met Erin Harris, an art teacher. In May 2012, Ms. Lois became involved with the Carpenter Street Art Garden. She used her skill of crafting by helping with all the paintings in the garden. She also used her planting skills to assist with the planting of vegetables and flowers. Ms. Lois brought forth her education and knowledge to tutor children .
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, David Bruce; mother, Cornelia Conley-Hill; father, Earl Roy Hill, Sr.; and two brothers, Charles Hill and Earl Roy Hill, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories and strong love, two sons, Sean (Joyce) Hill, and Andre (Derenia) Hill; one daughter, Tantileer Hill-Murphy; son in law, David Murphy; eight grand-children, Ervin Echols, Jr., Clarence (Trina) Murphy, Justen Hyman, DeAngelo Grandberry, Christen Murphy, Kendra (Shawn) Williams, Jerrica Hill, Shauntalaya Davenport; twenty great-grandchildren; one life-time friend, Etta Chapman; special cousin, Johnnie Taylor –Williford; special friend, Carnell Williams, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
