Obituary for Lois Ethelyn Patrick Clayborn
Lois Clayborn, 72, died March 4, 2016.
On August 21, 1943, the Spirit of God blew into the earth as Lois Ethelyn Patrick Clayborn was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Reverend Loyce Patrick and Edwina Christian Patrick.
Lois was the only child born to the union of Rev. Loyce and Edwina Patrick. After receiving some primary education in Camden, AR, and Nashville, TN, she attended Memphis City Schools, being educated at Florida Street Elementary School for eighth grade and Booker T. Washington High School, graduating in 1960. Lois proudly attended Fisk University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and later attended graduate school at Memphis State University for further study.
On Friday, March 4, 2016, she took her Savior’s hand and moved from work to reward. Awaiting on the other side of the Jordan were her loving parents, Loyce and Edwina Patrick. Left to honor her memory are her husband of over forty-five years, John (TN), son, Patrick (Sheri); grandchildren, Patrick II and Joya (AL); two aunts Lorena Green (FL) and Mattie Swanegan (CA); a sister-in-law, Carol Johnson, (TN), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation to be held from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Serenity Funeral Home.
Funeral Service to be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at New Tyler AME Church, 3300 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN 38122.
Burial at New Park Horn Lake Cemetery.
