Obituaries
Lucille accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age, subsequently became a member of the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Moscow, Tennessee. Upon moving to Memphis, Tennessee, Lucille and her family joined the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she served until her health declined.
Lucille was married to Shelby Watkins, Sr. and to this union, five (5) children were born. Her home was always a loving caring home. Although she worked in private homes as a young mother, her first priority was always her own family. She had an “open door” policy – everyone was welcome to visit and eat with her and the family. Who can forget those pinto beans, fried catfish, and fried chicken? She was a cook beyond comparison. She helped everyone that entered her doors in any way that she could – always a caring, loving, and forgiving soul.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby, and her four (4) sisters and four (4) brothers.
Today, we celebrate and cherish this beautiful life: Her children: James Watkins, Linda Watkins Hillard (Ralph), Deborah Watkins Watts (Robert), Garry Lee Watkins, and Shelby Watkins, Jr. (Mary); thirteen (13) grandchildren; twenty-eight (28) great-grandchildren; six (6) great-great-grandchildren; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
