Mae Alexander was born to the late Jim and Mary (Wooten) Newson on July 19, 1932, in Coldwater, MS.
Mae accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and strived to live a Godly life. She was a longtime member of Morning Star Holiness Church, under the leadership of the late Bishop W.A. Sesley. She was also a former member of Temple of Deliverance, Bountiful Blessings C.O.G.I.C, under the leadership of the late Bishop G.E. Patterson. Mae was an honorary member of Deliverance Temple C.O.G.I.C. She spent her life caring for others as a domestic worker and homemaker.Mae really enjoyed spending time with her family, singing, dancing, crafting, going to the senior center, playing games as well as occasional trips to the casino.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Jim and Mary Newson, her late husband Preston Alexander, two bonus children, Carolyn Alexander and Carl Alexander, and siblings,Ernest Newson, Oscar Newson, Pinky Lee Newson, Jim Edward Newson, and Louise Pendleton.
She leaves behind one sister, Velma Bennett and three brothers Joseph “Bubba” Newson, Willie Gene Newson, and Edward (Glenda) Newson, ten children Ethel Taylor, Martha (Edward)Webb, Earline (Eddie) Williams, James Ford, Randolph Ford, Beverly Ford (Mark Coleman), William Alexander, Vernon (Deidra) Alexander, Janice Blakely, Deleana (Melvin) Johnson, and two bonus children; Laverne Epps and Cynthia Alexander, and host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
