Mae Elsa Polk was born May 2, 1936 in Grand Junction, Tennessee to Fred and Ollie D Polk. She was a sibling to three sisters and seven brothers. Mae was very active in school, a basketball player at Prospect School. She professed her life to Christ at an early age at Prospect CME Church and demonstrated her love for Christ by being a good friend to her neighbors.
She was a daughter, sister, aunt, and mother to all of her nieces and nephews, especially her niece, “Frankie,” who she called her daughter. She was also a good storyteller with a great sense of humor, “we always told her that she missed her calling on being a comedian.”
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ollie D. Polk; brothers, Joe Burnett, Roy Burnett, Frank Polk, Eddie Polk, Fred S. Polk; sister, Louise McNeil. She leaves to cherish her memories, “daughter-niece,” Frankie (Greg) Conn; sisters, Nadine Lambert, Erma Washington; brothers, Samuel (Emma Jean) Polk, Milliard (Juanita) Polk; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
