Obituary for Martin Brown

Martin William Brown (Marty), age 82, passed away Thursday, September 11th at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tn.


A private graveside service will be held Thursday, September 18th at Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar Avenue in Memphis, Tn. at 2:30 p.m.


Marty is preceded in death by his parents, William and Eileen Brown.


He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rose Harrington Brown of Memphis; two children, Todd (Melissa) and Meredith Brown of Franklin, Tennessee, three stepchildren, four grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.


Marty was born on March 4, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Marty and his parents lived in Chicago, Il. before moving to Memphis when he was fifteen. He graduated from White Station High School where he excelled academically and was a very talented baseball and basketball player.


Marty attended Southwestern at Memphis, now known as Rhodes College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and graduated with honors in 1965. Marty's next pursuit would be law school at Washington University in St. Louis where he earned his law degree in 1968 and was at the top of his class.


Marty would go on to be a prominent commercial real estate attorney enjoying a lengthy career as chief legal counsel for Weston Properties.


The family requests memorials be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
