Obituary for Mary Katherine Press Jordan
Mary Katherine Press Jordan, age 68 passed away December 29, 2021 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice
House in Collierville, TN after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born August 30, 1953 in
Wilmington, Delaware to Charles Press and Joan Marks and was raised by Joan Marks and her
stepfather, Walter Marks. They were an Air Force family and moved around, finally settling in Sanford,
Florida where Mary graduated from Seminole High School.
Mary was living in Laurel, MS when she met Steven Jordan. After a divorce, she moved to Corinth,
MS where she and Steven got married on March 26, 1983. Their church family in Corinth was St.
Paul's Episcopal.
Mary and Steven moved to the Memphis area in 1988 and built a house in the Millington area in 1992.
Mary loved to plant and pot flowers in the yard and on the porch. She especially enjoyed decorating for
Halloween and Christmas with plenty of candy for the kids and lights both inside and outside the house
for Christmas.
Mary enjoyed going to the mountains in East Tennessee and the Ozarks and visiting caves wherever we
traveled. Her favorite was watching NASCAR racing both in person and on TV.
Mary is survived by her husband of 38 years, Steven Jordan; one son, Jason Carey; her stepmother,
Enis Press; 3 sisters, Karin Klingaman, Kelly Peterson, and Susan Press; 3 brothers, Robert Press,
Dennis Marks, and Paul Marks: and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service for Mary at St. Anne's Episcopal Church at 4063 Sykes Rd.,
Millington, TN at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
There will be a graveside service sometime in the future at Spence Cemetery north of Tylertown, MS.
