Orlando Owens, 43, died July 1, 2022.

Orlando Rapfell Owens was born April 19, 1979 to the late Kenneth Edwards, Sr. and the late Evelyn Owens Purdy. He was immersed in the Christian community as a Seventh- Day Adventist at Maranatha SDA in Jackson, TN. He graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with a master’s in Economics and Ph.D. (ABD) in Economics. He worked as a bank manager in Chicago and worked for the US Embassy in Barcelona, Spain. He speaks Spanish, Portuguese, colloquial registers of Spanish, and a dialect continuum of the Romantic languages fluently. He was a Master Mason AF&AM and a Forex Master Trader teaching many students how to Trade.
Orlando was blessed with a large and loving family. He was dedicated to his church, family, friends, and humanity. He was loving and kind always having time for discourse, to answer a question, or solve a problem. Orlando had a brilliant mind and a beautiful spirit. He will be ardently missed by those who loved him.
Orlando is survived by his wife, Teresa; his daughter, Evie Grace Owens (Nashville, TN); his brothers, DeVoisie Owens (Jackson, TN) and Kenneth Edwards, Jr. (Chicago, IL); his sisters, Danielle Owens (Jackson, TN) and Shanda Reese (Chicago, IL); his aunts, Angela Smith (Phillip Smith) (Chicago, IL), Yvette Thomas (Jack Thomas) (Jackson, TN), and Sonia Owens (Jackson, TN); his uncle, Billy Owens (Jackson, TN) who preceded him in death; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
