Robert McKinnley Matthews,Sr., 73,died November 14, 2018.
Mr. Robert McKinley Matthews Sr. was born May 20, 1945 in Memphis, TN to the parents of Lucille Matthews and McKinley Walls whom both preceded him in death.
He attended Patterson High School where he graduated with honors and pursued his career in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Italy serving a full term with an honorable discharge.
He furthered his career with International Harvester until it closed which then led him to a career with The Defense Depot until retirement. Adding more to his legacy of his greatness, he was also a Dedicated Deacon who served at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church for many years.
Robert was a loving husband to his wife, Carlene Matthews; an awesome father to his children, Darrell (Ann) Vanderbilt ~ Robert M. Matthews Jr., whom preceded him in death ~ Lakeesha (Andrew) Smith and Shelita Matthews. A compassionate brother to his siblings, (sisters) Clara Richmond-Lane and Betty Richmond-Bailey, whom preceded him in death ~ Theresa Richmond-Bell~ (brothers) Harvey Richmond Jr and Hal Richmond. He was a wonderful, kind and loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He also touched the hearts of a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends with his unconditional love.
