Roscoe Dixon Jr. departed this life on April 15, 2021 to rest in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. Roscoe was born September 20, 1949 in Gilmore, Arkansas to Roscoe Sr. and Virgie Dixon. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School and Memphis State University. He was the executive director of the Black Business Association. He championed the cause of his fellow man. He served on various boards: Memphis Health Center, Old Hickory Hill Civic Club, Raineshaven Civic Club, Florida Street Civic Club, Associated Catholic Charities, Whitehaven Southwest Mental Health Center. Roscoe served two years in the US Army and 16 years in the Tennessee National Guard attaining the rank of Captain. Roscoe engaged in causes to help people achieve equality, fairness and prosperity such as Operation PUSH, NAACP, and the Urban League. Roscoe was elected as a state representative in 1982. Representing district 87 he was instrumental in funding for the Memphis Health Center. In 1994, Roscoe was elected to the Tennessee State Senate representing district 33.
Roscoe met his wife, Gloria Dobbins at a political social gathering. Roscoe and Gloria were married at St. Peter Baptist Church, August 29, 1981.
Roscoe is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gloria, his step father Willie (Stella) Moore, mother in law Hazel Dobbins, sisters Catherine and Sandra (Craig) brothers Ricky (Judy) Bobby and Danny, sister in laws Dorothy (Robert) Thelma (Vaughn) Cheryl and nephews, cousins and many friends.
The family will receive friends Friday April 23rd from 4pm-7pm at Serenity Funeral Home 1638 Sycamore View Road. Funeral viewing Saturday April 24th from 11am-12 at Serenity. Funeral service is Noon Saturday April 24th at Serenity.

The family welcomes donations to Capps Inc 4041 Knight Arnold, as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
