Obituaries
Sherry Kaye Hetherington was born in Lambert, Mississippi, on December 13, 1944. She passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by her loved ones.
Sherry was known for her sense of humor, sharp intelligence, and deep love for her family. She was always ready to offer thoughtful advice and unwavering support. Some of her most cherished moments were spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially loved watching them participate in sports—something close to her heart, as she was a talented athlete herself, with basketball being her favorite.
During her years in Myrtle Beach, she found great joy in creating special memories with her grandchildren, whether at the water park, the beach, amusement parks, or playgrounds.
Sherry was a devoted woman of faith. She was a member of Crowder Baptist Church for over 20 years earlier in life, and later became a longtime member of Forestbrook Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, where she worshiped for more than 30 years. She especially cherished her time in the Forestbrook Beacon Sunday School Class, where she built lasting friendships and community.
She also took great pride in her career and was passionate about her work as an HR Director for a healthcare facility in Myrtle Beach.
Sherry was preceded in death by her loving husband of 28 years, Jim Hetherington; her father, George Arthur Sanders; her mother, Edna Mae Arendale Sanders; five sisters, Francelle Franks, Annie Fern Wimberly, Jeanelle Reeves, Mary Edna Mask, and Jane Eads; and five brothers, Morris Sanders, Therold Sanders, George Sanders Jr., Ronnie Sanders, and Melvin Sanders.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Melanie Warner of Collierville, Tennessee, and her loving son, Hank Warner of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Brett and Bradley Warner of Collierville, Tennessee, and Coleman, Cameron, and Mackenzie Warner of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two great-granddaughters, Burkley and Scarlett Warner of Collierville, Tennessee; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Services will be held at a later date.
“When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand that Jesus came and called my name, took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in Heaven far above, and that I would have to leave behind all those I dearly love. So, when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart—for every time you think of me, I’m right here in your heart.”
Philippians 4:13
