Sidney Albert Yates was born June 17,1935 in Mason, TN to Andrew and Louise Yates. He accepted Christ and baptized at an early age. Sidney married Ernestine Meredith on July 10,1955. He was called home on August 2,2022. Sidney was a dedicated family man; He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was employed and retired from John Merrell, BFI, and Durham School Services. He’s preceded in death by his sisters; Beatrice Lytle (Richard) and Johnnie Gwin-Jones (George); Brothers James Yates (Henrene), Andrew Yates Jr., Cornelius Gwin (Rose), and Charles Gwin (Andrea); Children; Loretta Matthews, Marcia Yates, Gerald Yates, and Andre Yates. Sidney leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Ernestine Yates; his three daughters Deborah Elder (Floyd), Velvetta Clay (Jasper), Kemetria Yarbrough (Kevin). Grandchildren; Guy Matthews (Tammy), Byron Matthews (Nakia), Tammikia Yates-Matthews (Marlon), Cedric Bonds (Jacquetta), Meredith Elder, Courtney Coleman, Jeremy Clay, Jordan Clay, Zaria Yarbrough, eight great grandchildren, Sisters; Francis Jones, Phyllis Taylor, Gwendolyn Ross (Marlon), Brothers; Billy Yates, Samuel Gwin (Brenda), Robert Gwin, Donald Gwin(Fatema), and a host of nieces and nephews.
