Steven Gerald Shipp was born January 18, 1971 in Memphis, TN to Albert Lee Harper and the late, Earline Shipp. He was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Steven confessed his faith in Christ at an early age at First Baptist Park; later he became a member of Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis, TN.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, a father, Albert Lee Harper; a brother, Timothy Singleton; a sister, Danielle (Keke) Harper; special aunts, Shirley Harper, Katherine Parham (Thomas), Diane Patton (Ralph), Leisa Bedell (Corey), Bernice King (David); dear and special cousins, Jerome Shipp (Nicole) and Lashundra Jefferson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Steven’s passion was to serve with eloquence and quality. He was committed to extending himself for others so they would be able to enjoy the moment. He often said that he could not imagine doing anything else. Steven embraced and exemplified the quote by Woodrow T. Wilson: “No man has ever risen to the real stature of spiritual manhood until he has found that it is finer to serve somebody else than it is to serve himself.”
