Minister Thomas H. Oliver was born in Hernando, MS on May 23, 1943 to the late Charlie and Jattie Oliver.
He was saved at the age of 16. He was a member of Watson C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of Elder Woods. He later joined St. Luke C.O.G.I.C in 1962 under the leadership of Elder W.E. Garner. He remained a faithful member under the leadership of Supt. Walter Shannon and Pastor Earl Shannon.
Minister Thomas H. Oliver served as Chairman of the deacon board and president of Y.P.W.W. He was a faithful member of the trustee board and the choir. He enjoyed late night cookouts and fellowship with the men of St. Luke as they prepared for Member Appreciation Day. His saying was, “I just want the food done when the people get here.”
He was an employee at Joseph E. Seagram in 1964 until 1984 when he started Oliver Trucking until his retirement.
Minister Thomas H. Oliver was united in Holy Matrimony to Bessie Mae Hamilton, his “Bae”, on January 7, 1962 (57 years). To this union 8 children were born. He was the proud father of Sandra (Odis Jr.), Jacqueline (Willie), Thomas Eric, Terence (Marieta), Merinda (Eric), Kelvin, Stacy (Eureco), Tracy (Demetra). He was also the loving grandfather of 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One son-in-law and one grandchild preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish a sister, Katie Williams. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death, Samuel Oliver, Willie Oliver, Charlie Oliver Jr. and Robbie Hilliard.
He also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and family and friends.
