Obituary for Tommie Lee Gates
Tommie “Buddy” Lee Gates Sr., 88, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away, Monday, May 23, 2016 at his home.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00-600 pm, Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Society at 1638 Sycamore View Road Memphis, TN. 38134.
“Buddy” Gates, was born September 30, 1927 in Egypt, Mississippi to Edgar and Katy (Cunningham) Gates. As a child he attended, Redbud M.B. Church. He spent most of his time in the comfort of his home with his children and grandchildren.
“Buddy” Gates is survived by his two sons and daughter, Tommie Lee Gates Jr. of White Plains, New York, Carl Bernard Gates of Memphis, TN. and Vernadean Gates of Cordova, TN; four grandchildren, Tiffany Jones of Atlanta, GA., Meagan Gates of Walls, MS., Carl Bernard Gates Jr. and Caitlin Gates of Olive Branch, MS. and several nieces and nephews who were more like sons and daughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Katy Gates and his siblings Oral Conway, Thena Mae Wade, Bennie Gates, Edgar Gates, Mae Emma Haynes and Indiana Gates.
